The Billy the Kid Gift Shop mural/sign
The aging and oft-altered mural above the entrance to The Billy the Kid Gift Shop in La Mesilla, New Mexico, was damaged during a film shoot, and so I was brought in to completely restore the work. I brought back elements that had been painted over, and gave it a look that honored the long history of the building that had previously been a bar, but was at one time the courthouse where Billy the Kid was sentenced to hang.

| THE BRICK DOOR
Client: R-CON Construction
The client had designed an Iltalian-style house, with heavy use of aged, cultured brick and stone on multiple archways. The master-suite was to be blocked off by a pocket door at the end of a hallway of arches. The client had the idea to mask this door by painting it to match the surrounding brick. We added a little clue to the visual trick by including a flower growing through a "hole" in the old brick wall. The photo at left shows the doorway before the addition of the cultured materials and my painting (which covered not only the door, but the surrounding wall up to the actual brick arch). The photo at right shows the finished mural. I used Artists Choice paints from Sculptural Arts Coatings (my favorite mural and scenery paints), and sealed the surface for heavy traffic use.
